I've already talked about several animated Disney movies before, like Rapunzel, Cinderella, but today I want to talk about the Snow White story. Snow White is a world-famous tale, and this is the sweet version of Dinsey that surely most people have seen; I would dare to say that it is one of the films that has had the most versions in terms of the film industry, since films such as: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of Disney (1937), Mirror mirror (2012), Snow White y the Huntsman (2012). But the classic would be the movie released by Disney; in fact this movie was Disney's first animated feature film.
But today I want to talk about the story spread by the Grimm brothers; on Snow White of the Brothers Grimm. This story belongs to the collection of short stories by the Grimm Brothers, "Snow White" ("Schneewittchen") is #53 and corresponds to type 709 of the Aarne-Thompson classification: "Little Snow White". Belonging to the book "Tales of childhood and home".
The Grimm brothers' Snow White story unfolds as follows...
Once upon a time, at the end of winter, there was a kind young sewing queen sitting near a black ebony-framed window; strolling through the garden of his palace, he saw a red rose growing in spite of the cold, when he went to touch it he pricked his finger with a thorn, and dropped three drops of blood in the snow.
Since the effect that red had on white snow was so beautiful, it was then that the queen wished to have a daughter with skin as white as snow, with red lips like blood and black hair as black as ebony . Before long, his wish was fulfilled, giving birth to a charming princess who was as white as snow, as red as blood, and whose hair was as black as ebony. the queen and her husband, the king, decided to call Princess Snow White
However, the queen, Snow White's mother, fell ill shortly after giving birth and died. The king married a year later with a very beautiful but cold and haughty woman. The king's second wife, the new queen, really was a very powerful sorceress, selfish, evil, bad and excessively vain, she could not bear that anyone was more beautiful than her. And she had an enchanted mirror.
The Evil Queen, stepmother of Snow White, used to ask her mirror every day: "Magic mirror mirror tell me something, which woman in this kingdom is the most beautiful?"
Then the mirror replied: "You, Your Majesty, are the most beautiful woman in this kingdom and of all the others."
She was satisfied since she knew that her mirror always told the truth.
But Snow White grew and embellished more and more; and when she was seventeen she was as beautiful as day, and the malevolent queen asked her magic mirror the same as so many other times, expecting the same answer, but she replied: "My Queen, you are full of beauty, it is true, but your young stepdaughter, Princess Snow White, is now a thousand times more beautiful than you."
Then the queen was afraid, she began to feel jealousy and envy. From that moment on, when he saw Snow White, his heart skipped a beat, such was the hatred he felt for the princess. And his envy and his pride grew more and more, like a weed, so that he found no rest, day or night.
He ordered a hunter to kill his stepdaughter Snow White in the woods and, to be sure, demanded that he bring her the heart, liver, and lungs of the innocent, beautiful sweet, and princess Snow White, her own step daughter. The hunter obeyed, took Snow White to the forest but could not fulfill his task when he saw the princess cry, so the hunter, seeing her so beautiful, had mercy.
The hunter did not fulfill his task and instead left the beautiful and sweet Princess Snow White in the forest, he thought then, that the beasts would soon devour her. Still, not having to kill her was like a weight being lifted from her heart. And brought to Snow White's evil stepmother, the evil queen, the heart of a young deer that was later cooked by the royal cook and eaten by the cruel queen.
For her part, the poor girl was in the middle of the great forests, abandoned by everyone and with such fear that all the leaves of the trees scared her. He had no idea how to cope and then he ran and ran until he discovered a small house in a clearing and in the middle of the forest that belonged to seven dwarfs and decided to enter to rest. There, they took pity on her they let her stay, if she kept the house for them, cooked, towards the beds, washed, sewed, knitted and kept everything clean and tidy, then you can stay with us and you will have everything you want.
They warned him, yes, not to let anyone in while they were in the mountains. Meanwhile, the evil queen asked her mirror once again who was the most beautiful of all and, horrified, learned that Princess Snow White, her own stepdaughter, was not only living with the seven dwarfs, hidden in the little house. of the forest, but her own stepdaughter Snow White was still the most beautiful of all.
The Malevolent Queen uses three costumes to try to kill her while the seven dwarfs are in the mountains. First, disguised as a vendor buhonera, offers her stepdaughter Snow White some colorful neck ribbons. Snow White tries on one but the evil queen clutches the ribbon so tightly to her neck that she suffocates, making the queen think the princess is dead. The seven dwarfs when they return to the house discover Snow White passed out, they remove the tape from her neck and the young woman wakes up.
The second time the cruel queen is disguised as a comb saleswoman and offers a poisoned comb to her stepdaughter Snow White. Although Snow White refuses the woman to put the comb on her, she manages to put it on by force and the Snow White princess falls passed out, with the comb stuck in her hair. When the seven dwarfs from the mountains arrive they remove the pinned comb and realize that he did not manage to nail it to his head, but only scratched it. They remove and undo the comb from Snow White's hair and she wakes up.
Finally, the evil queen prepares a poisoned apple, disguises herself as an old saleswoman, and offers the apple to Snow White. When Snow White refuses to accept, her evil stepmother, the malevolent queen, cuts the apple in half and eats the good white part of the apple and gives the red and poisoned part to the princess. Snow White eats the red part of the apple with enthusiasm and immediately falls into a deep slumber. When the dwarves find it, they cannot revive it. Still preserving its beauty, the seven dwarfs make a glass and gold coffin to be able to see it all the time.
Time passes and a prince who travels through the kingdom sees Snow White in the coffin. The prince is enchanted by her beauty and falls in love with her. He pleads with the dwarfs to give him the body of Snow White and asks his servants to move the coffin to his castle. In doing so they stumble over some bushes and the movement causes Snow White to spit out the piece of poisoned apple stuck in his throat, thus awakening from the dream of death. The prince then declares his love for Snow White and soon the couple plans to celebrate their wedding.
The Evil Queen, still believing that her stepdaughter Snow White is dead, asks her mirror once again who is the most beautiful of all and, once again, the mirror disappoints her with her answer: "You, my queen, are incredibly beautiful , It is true; but the young queen is a thousand times more beautiful than you".
Not knowing that she was actually referring to her stepdaughter Snow White, the cruel queen is invited to the wedding of the prince of the neighboring country. When he realizes that the new queen is his own stepdaughter Snow White, he freaks out and despairs trying to go unnoticed.
However, the prince and Snow White see and recognize the evil queen, Snow White's evil stepmother. So Snow White tells the prince all the bad times his wicked stepmother, the wicked queen, had brought him through, and how he tried to kill her three times. As punishment for his evil deeds, the prince, now king, orders a pair of iron shoes to be made, forcing the evil queen, the evil stepmother of Snow White, to put them on red hot and dance naked without stopping until she dies.
I particularly don't like the Snow White movie very much, it's not a bad movie but it's not to my liking. The version of the Grimm brothers seems like a good story to me. And if they read to the end they would have noticed some similarities and differences and the different versions of this story.
I hope you liked it.
