Trying out Gods Unchained the Card Game

in godsunchained •  3 months ago

And there it was, another cardgame on the blockchain but this time on the Ethereum blockchain. ’Games and Ethereum’ you say, yeah exactly, let us see if this will beat the crypto kitty fiasco we are all still thinking about (I never played it though)

Signing up was a breeze actually, going through someones invite link to Gods Unchained.com creating an account and also a ethereum wallet with that. This was a tiny bit confusing to me because it came something with Portis which is a wallet, but it did not save my keys. But anyway, with working around and metamask eventually all my data is there. But I have to honestly admit.....if you are new to crypto, this will be hatred!

Back to the game of Gods unchained. I have Steemmonsters in the back of my mind ofcourse on usability and on fast everything goes. Well I don’t know if it is my computer but the programm itself (yes you have to play from your desktop but half of the time you switch back to the website, not very convientent but I guess this is still the beta issues) made my computer go in full on CPU overdrive, not a lot of good signs.

I got some free starter cards, (you can get them as well if you sign in through my link ) and then you can start to practise. At this moment there is also a weekend tournament going on, but from what I understand you have to have practised 30 games before being in. Not a bad idea if you ask me, because the game doesn’t feel quite natural to me as yet. All the clicks are not going so smoothly, and I am still on the hunt on what does what.

The goal of the game is to wack the opponents God. You do this with cards which all have different functions ofcourse. Defense, offense, magic, you name it, the cards have it. Every round the manna pool grows so you can play stronger cards which you can use to either attack your opponent's God or his front row cards. You can also play more cards per round if your manna allows it, and when you are done with your turn, you give it to your opponent. Sounds doable right? Yeah it is.. but it is way to slow for me and not very compliant for switching windows, what I normally do a lot. Ow well…..

Maybe it is just me and this is new, and new is evil. Maybe you have another tactic or opinion. Please try it and share it to me as well. I am curious how you will find it!
