After graduating, and passing the examination for teachers, Elisa took a sign language course because she wants to take part in deaf community. After six months, she finished the course, and has to be eligible as a sign language interpreter.
She looked for a job as a SPED teacher but considering the state in such field in government schools, support isn't enough. Having registered as an interpreter, she was called in several events where there are deaf people. She will interpret speeches and announcements standing, and if she gets tired, they'll give her a bar stool.
There are times when she has a back-up to interpret the rest of the speech, but oftentimes without anyone to take her place. She was also hired to be the interpreter for a television news program by which she will work for about an hour.
Her work is giving her back pains, and exhaustion so she took a break once she had someone as substitute. When she felt better, she decided to go back to her work. It didn't take long, she gets tired easily, and her back pains even worsened.
Her X-ray test shows there's deformation on her spine. But with subsequent tests such as MRI, and CT Scan, she was diagnosed with cancer. Despite her illness, her dedication on her job is admirable as she continued being an interpreter. She had undergone treatment but it didn't work, and eventually passed away. Her colleagues from sign language field paid her so much respects on her dedication to help and send the messages to deaf people.
