Agony

"Let her go"
I watch you now,
Absent only in heart,
Physically here,
But miles apart.

"I let her go."
But my heart rages on,
Wanting nothing more
Than to draw you back to me,
To embrace you once more.

I released your pressure,
But took it as my own.
I try not to boil over,
And reveal my terror
At the thought
That you might leave forever.

You entice me with your shape,
Your smile,
Your wit.
Though you mean not to.
But you feel better,
Freer,
You relax.

And my heart just rages,
Wanting to swallow you up.
