After a week or so, I have returned to the SOOP Contest with--another Orgelbuchlein Prelude. This time it is a Christmas prelude. I am going to confess that it is probably under tempo. Most recordings I listened to were much faster and I didn't particularly like them. Rather than the ecstatic exuberance of those recordings, I went with a more gentle tempo with the walking bass in the pedals and the chirpy thirty-second notes in the left hand. I pictured Bach walking down the street during Christmas whistling the tune with a bit of pep in his step by not overexerting himself. Let me know what you think.

Perhaps it is a bit too slow, but it is certainly a lot better than some of those performances that sound like the player wants to go home as soon as possible!
